Development and liaison

Developing an effective voluntary organisation in under-represented areas is a major objective of Taunton Deane CVS. We try to encourage provision of voluntary services in these areas and once up and running we help to forge working relationships between volunteers and the various organisations that oversee the work of volunteers. Liaison with other voluntary groups is important in identifying needs in the community and regular contact with the local authority and statutory bodies such as the N.H.S. helps foster an increased understanding of the valuable role that volunteers play within the fabric of society.

If you feel that your voice is not being heard then maybe we can help give you a VOICE.

Health Liaison

Our work focuses on linking the work of over 90 volunteer groups, facilitating co-operation and improving effectiveness. We deal with all manner of enquiries on matters as diverse as funding searches, community and special transport arrangements, availability of accessible premises, help with publicity and locating volunteers for health-related work. We liaise with groups such as Age Concern, the Alzheimer's Disease Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Somerset Cancer Care and St John's Ambulance amongst others. If you would like to benefit from the work of these groups please contact us.

European Liaison

We help to disseminate information about available funding from the European Social Fund and can supply help and support for anyone wanting to make a bid for funding, co-ordinate a bid with other local organisations, arranging for matching funding and/or distributing funds when
they arrive. Through the South West Forum we help to lobby the European Commission for additional support for organisations within the South West of England.

Church Liaison

One of Taunton Deane's most valuable resources is the presence of a parish church in every village. The Church is therefore in the heart of our communities and ideally placed to listen to and respond to the needs of its parishioners quickly and effectively. The Church has a strong voice
in matters involving the local authority and can harness the energies of a large number of people wanting to help out the disadvantaged members of society. CVS can aid the communication between the Church and the local and statutory bodies. Examples of the way in which we can help include helping to resolve difficulties arising through, for example, the arrival of asylum seekers and representation on the Social Concerns Group of Taunton Christians Together. Our "Links" scheme is aimed at linking together every parish in Taunton Deane so that information can pass freely and widely across the area.
