Acronyms.
The voluntary Sector uses a large number of acronyms and jargon. The
National Association for Voluntary and Community Action - NAVCA produces a list of acronyms
commonly used in the voluntary and
and community sectors.
CVS Community Computers.
Community Computers was set up Taunton Deane Council for Voluntary Service in December 2002.
TDCVSCC are a non-profit organisation that recycles computers that have been donated to them by individuals, businesses
and local authorities who would prefer to see this equipment recycled for community use rather than disposed of at land-fill sites.
In association with their colleagues at Computers for Charity, CVS Community Computers supplies
machines with a fully licensed Windows 2000 Pro Operating System available with Open Office.
Computers are supplied to Playgroups, Schools, Youth Clubs, Charities, and other non-profit organisations.
They are also made available to those on state benefits, disabled, pensioners and schoolchildren with learning difficulties.
A small donation is requested for each computer to help with the costs of running the workshop and the software licensing.
