What happens when I enquire about voluntary work?

It's all very simple. We usually ask you to come and have a brief discussion with one of our Advisers to help you choose the jobs that are best for you. Before the discussion we ask you for some information about yourself.
After the discussion, we contact the appropriate employers on your behalf and ask them to contact you. Some employers allow us to pass you their details without the need for an interview. We will still ask you for a few brief details about yourself and give you the information you need to contact the job providers.

How can I apply for a TDCVS voluntary job opportunity online?

Current vacancies:
Please go to the National Volunteering Database at www.do-it.org.uk to see our 300 plus job opportunities in a national database of over 600,000 such opportunities. In their search boxes, please type a local postcode or town name or Taunton Deane for the jobs related to our area. Besides these place-names, you can add an area of subject interest or a type of skill or activity to narrow down your search. So for example a search might be - Taunton - plus - Elderly - plus - Caring - or another might be - TA21 - plus - Music - plus - Entertainment. Do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

How are volunteers supported?

Supported Volunteers:
Taunton Deane CVS Supported Volunteers Project aims to remove the barriers to volunteering, real or perceived, for volunteers with individual support needs. The project is co-ordinated by Alison Mawhood. The project provides extra support to volunteers with a range of individual needs. These may be physical disabilities, sensory loss, mental health problems or learning difficulties.
Help can involve assistance with access issues, advice and information for volunteers and voluntary organisations. The Supported Volunteers Project is based at The Old Municipal Buildings, Corporation Street, Taunton.
Alison Mawhood can be contacted on 01823 284470 or by email at Alison.Mawhood@tauntoncvs.org.uk Office hours are 10-4 Monday to Friday.
